In the first episode of Season 2, I interview my new friend (and first virtual interview guinea pig) Christine Sarno, a Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual, who specializes in comprehensive financial planning tailored to the unique goals and needs of each of her clients to both empower them and give them peace of mind about their own future, as well as the futures of their loved ones. Christine began the pursuit of her passion, to become a financial wing woman for others, in the corporate environment of promotional services working primarily for Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies. It was there, that her personal background and her observations of women in the professional world collided, lighting her fire to help ease the overwhelm of financial diligence. Christine witnessed on countless occasions, professional women, career women, falling victim to negative self-talk, insecurity and fear surrounding their finances, particularly when it came to negotiating better income or compensation packages for themselves. She pivoted into the world of finance to begin advocating for her clients, and for women, to ensure their boats were rising with the tide right alongside her own.

Listen to our interview, of observed financial limitations and lack of resources, and the way both control the lives of so many women despite women holding nearly 2/3 of the world’s wealth. Christine grew up quickly as the mouthpiece for her mother, growing both communication skills and her confidence, so as to ensure that her mother could grow in both of these areas as well with each step she took forward toward independence. She shares wisdom for all of us on developing our own financial diligence, whether we’re established career women, or new mothers, by demystifying the process.
